Wearing Lip Sense in Fleur de Lisa!

Hi there!

I recently found out about Lip Sense lipsticks from my co-worker and friend Lindsey and I’m completely hooked! I order them all through her now, and if you’d like to too comment or email me through my website and I’ll be sure to put you guys in touch. They have a Facebook group called “Practically Perfect Pouts” where all the colors are listed as well as special deals going on;).

These lipsticks are a lip stain that you then cover with a special gloss that moisturizes and seals in the color, allowing it to stay on for hours and hours! My lips look glossy and stay put, and they don’t come off on coffee cups or anyone else’s cheek (or lips!) I love these colors for work and there are a ton to choose from.

Stay glossy!

Spring Overall Trend!

Hi there!

As Winter slowly draws to a close I love finding ways to incorporate a Spring look with layers so I’m still season-appropriate for winter. One trend I have been wanting to style lately is the overall look.

These overalls (a steal on sale currently at Topshop!!) are with a skirt which is so fun and flirty, and the black velvet with little flowers allows it to be worn in different seasons plus the flowers are looking forward to spring. Because I was in the Catskills last weekend going to a meditation retreat, I photographed this with the winter landscape as the contrast with my bright Zara turtleneck added a fun pop of color to the snowy landscape. I finished the look with black leggings and my new black buckled moto boots I found at a little boutique while in Paris recently. These boots can be found on so many sites and in so many stores right now, they are right on trend! I even witnessed my fave (she’s also Brazilian) fashion blogger sporting Givenchy identical ones on her way to Paris Fashion week yesterday! I was also carrying my large Chanel vintage tote I have been using nonstop lately.

There are so many fun ways to sport overalls, and the key is to have fun with it. You can’t go wrong!

Hi there!

For those of you who watch my stories you might have seen my unwrapping video some months ago when I received my shipment of Virginia Stone skincare goodies. Her eye collection is incredible, and I am now an ambassador for her line and I couldn’t wait to share this brand I’ve recently began to work with.

Virginia and I met during fashion week last year and she is an amazing human being, above all. She is beautiful inside and out, and her products show this radiance. Her products are natural and sustainable and her packaging is divine and sustainable as well! The stone keeps the product from being at the wrong temperature, and it’s magnetic in the way it closes. All her products are so natural you can eat them, literally. They smell good and feel great on the skin. They are designed based on skin tone because her philosophy (and this is proven) is that different skin pigments respond to different products. I’m using the light one and in the summer I’ll switch to the next one up for skin tone.

Above I included a selfie I took where I’m wearing minimal makeup and have natural hair to celebrate my using this great product and the glowing effect it has on my skin!  When you purchase this great product on the site be sure to use my code to save 10%: “Click here for Carolina’s VS code.”

Hi there!

I know it’s still cold out on the East Coast, but I’m looking ahead to warmer days in this gorgeous Free People polka dot billowy sleeved top! I love the mustard yellows I’m seeing and I think it has a 70s vintage feel with the bodace of the top being fitted and with a sweetheart neckline, so I tucked it into high waisted flares (my Old Navy ones I just can’t get enough of) and wore my new Nine West blue velvet gogo boots underneath (with an updated modern chunky heel we are seeing everywhere).

I completed the look with Betsey Johnson rose tinted sunnies vintage Chanel tote and Bloomies duffel as I was heading out of town on another trip (more on my Instagram and stories)!

I know we will see yellow, mustard, and vintage boho vibes everywhere this spring so however you choose to style it the key is to just have fun with it!

Hi there!

With Valentine’s Day coming up many of us wonder what to wear (even when single like I currently am!) because I love holidays. Here is a really fun idea for you. I worked with Tobi clothing on the blog and I styled the Leila laced scalloped skater dress in a sexy vintage way with tan Cuban heel black back seam stockings and a classic black Louboutin Pigalle pump. I finished the look with my YSL medium Kate purse and messy wavy bed hair, a cat eye and a bright red lip. To me a woman in a classic red lip black pump and red dress will always look sexy, and the messy hair shows the look isn’t too fussy either. This dress is a little more revealing than most dresses I wear but I challenged myself to put on something a bit more daring for the occasion.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine’s Day no matter how it’s spent. With friends family a significant other or alone, there’s no right way to spend a day celebrating love.

Hi there!

I recently started to work with Tobi clothing, and have fallen in love with some of the beautiful pieces they sent me. In this post I styled the gorgeous Tobi Give Love Sweater Dress a perfect winter white cozy cold shoulder knit that I belted with my Gucci belt for a night on the town that is casual yet slightly dressy. I finished the look with my Blank NYC vegan leather pants and Sorel boots (both from Nordstrom). Once stepping inside for dinner or wherever the night takes me I might opt for a pump or not if I’m going to a movie for example!

Another thing I just love about Tobi is how affordable their pieces are and they don’t look inexpensive.  Stay tuned for more Tobi looks coming up. So excited to share them with you! They are @shoptobi on Instagram.

Happy shopping!

Hi there!

I recently started to work with Tobi clothing, and have fallen in love with some of the beautiful pieces they sent me. In this post I styled the gorgeous Bella Ribbed Bodycon dress - a perfect LBD for a night on the town- with my classic Christian Louboutin black pumps and YSL medium Kate handbag. I am also wearing Cuban heel tan stockings with a black stripe down the back because if I’m going to wear stockings I find these to be the most beautiful classic and elegant. So that’s how I finished off this classic look! Many stocking manufacturers will make this staple stocking. It makes me feel like a woman in the 1940s. My fashion might be a bit more updated but I always love a vintage feel! I feel like a classic woman in them.

Another thing I just love about Tobi is how affordable their pieces are and they don’t look inexpensive.  Stay tuned for more Tobi looks coming up. So excited to share them with you!

Winter Florals 2 Ways

Hi there and Happy New Year!

My family and I celebrated the Holidays in CT and Paris, and I styled a new Zara floral dress with velvet bow and cuffs two different ways, in each place respectively. I love the darker hues with floral allowing for it to be worn in the winter with tights and not just as a dress for warmer months. I first styled it with black accented floral lace tights and my Sam Edelman blue platform wedges along with my vintage Chanel purse. My makeup (see below) was a new palette from Charlotte Tilbury called “Vintage Vamp” which has purples golds and berry tones that I love for winter!  I photographed this in my old bedroom since it is a girly almost doll-like look.

I wore the look again in Paris to see the Fortuny fashion exhibit at the Palais Galliera museum, only this time I added a velvet blazer and Zara studded strappy ballet flats to make it a little more edgy. I love these strappy studded flats because they are another great example of girly & rock and roll!

Florals can be worn in so many ways and they never go out of style. This dress has bows and ruffles so it’s quite girly but with the right accessories I love to give it a slight edge to go out.

Hi there!

Continuing with the LA theme, while I was out there I styled another recent Free People top (called the “embroidered bell sleeve top” from Nordstrom that I just love! I’m wearing it with a studded ankle boot, Old Navy flares, and a suede moto jacket from Nordstrom by Vigoss. I finished the look with my Balenciaga Mini City crossbody purse. I always love Grand Central Market in downtown LA and it’s food options including an amazing breakfast place called “Eggslut.” I love LA!

There are so many fun boho looks everywhere right now, and even in the cold you can style the tops with layers;). Stay tuned for holiday looks next up!

Hi there!

I am in sunny Los Angeles working and playing for a few weeks and thought Venice Beach would be the perfect backdrop for this Free People “Magic Mystery tunic!” I love how it has a boho 70s vibe with bell sleeves so naturally I styled it with my Old Navy high waisted jeans and my hair down and a little frizzy! This top is also available at Nordstrom which was where I scored it from! I finished the look with my Aldo studded moto boots and vintage Chanel chain strap tote bag.

Hi there!

Continuing the vintage band tee trend (I love how versatile a great rock and roll band tee can be) we recently photographed another t-shirt from the TaschNYC vintage repurposed tee collection. This one was a Janis Joplin tee with custom heart cutout and studded detail in the back. All the tees have been custom redesigned in some way which I really love. I styled this with my Old Navy high-waisted Bell bottom jeans (a recent sale score!) and my Topshop teal faux fur jacket. Edit: this is not avail so I tagged a more recent one in another funky color (there are many colors avail)! I finished the look with my new Sam Edelman teal velvet platform sandals (later edit: when that one was sold out I added a more recent link here) and my YSL medium Kate bag. I felt right out of the 70s with this look; a little boho rock and roll vibe!

I also worked with TaschNYC in the past with some of their gorgeous dressy looks including a beaded purple dress I had a blast shooting in and walking the runway in. They have some fun casual wear as well as formal ladies clothing!

Hi there!

This week is devoted to the classic Rock & Roll band tee. I worked with designer Tasch on this post. I just love her stuff since she repurposes a classic band tee. In this look she has added holes and burnt others into the oversized black Nirvana tee I’m wearing. I styled it with my Blank NYC vegan leather leggings, H&M metallic ankle booties and Bebe leather moto jacket, finishing it off with my new YSL medium Kate purse in all black.

I love the way a band tee can add edge to any outfit, and since this t-shirt is oversized I wanted to pair it with a legging and jacket and add an ankle boot. The all black edge gets funky with a metallic boot which is a huge trend at the moment. This classic yet edgy look is timeless.

Hope you are having a groovy weekend!

Hi there!

Wondering what to wear this holiday season? I’ve got you covered. A cold shoulder sweater like this one from Express in fall’s hottest color (vibrant red), and with bell sleeves is perfectly festive yet comfortable. I styled this sweater with my vegan leather skinnies from Nordstrom by Blank NYC and a vintage black double strap suede pump. I finished off the look with my Rebecca Minkoff blush pink studded drawstring bucket bag.

The holiday season is among us, let’s get festive!

Hi there!

As promised in my last post, I wanted to share my favorite must have fall blazer/jacket with you: the velvet blazer. The one I styled above is vintage Gaminerie from Italy but they are absolutely everywhere this season! Velvet is popping up in jackets, dresses, tops, bags, and shoes. A sleek black velvet blazer like this one matches everything and ads style and a dressy element to any look.

My look above includes a Gap striped long sleeve top Polo Ralph Lauren jeans (that I cut and frayed myself to try out the cutoff trend), Chanel red patent leather ballet flats, and my new Rebecca Minkoff blush drawstring studded bucket bag. I threw my hair up for an Upper West Side weekend stroll with my boyfriend where we visited Strawberry Fields (one of my all time favorite NYC spots) got brunch and shopped then took this photo in front of the famous Dakota building. I felt very French chic in this look: put together but not trying too hard. The red lip was an afterthought but most of the day I wasn’t wearing it.  I think it’s very chic to have a casual look with a blazer and slightly messy hair :)

On a weekend getaway to my friend's PA lakehouse in my custom The Ave Los Angeles skull & rose chucks, new Express striped ruffle asymmetrical mini skirt,  Free People top, new Vigoss grey suede moto jacket by and my new YSL black medium Kate chain strap purse!

Hi there!

I think I've already spoken about how much I love this style aesthetic but to reiterate: girly meets rock and roll is my absolute fave! This fall we are seeing ruffles stripes and moto jackets everywhere so naturally I had to style the trends!

I styled my new Vigoss grey suede moto jacket (by from Nordstrom) with an older cream Free People top, and a new Express asymmetrical striped ruffled mini skirt. I finished the look with my custom chucks from a great store in Los Angeles, CA called The Ave. They are skull and rose Day of the Dead print with graffiti lettered "Lina" on one shoe tongue and "Ballerina" on the other. I love these high tops so much. I also wore my brand new Yves Saint Laurent black medium Kate chain strap bag that I'm just in love with. I love the black on black detail making this a classic yet edgy purse.

Now that it's cooling down a bit in New York it's fun to layer on the moto jacket and scarf or blazer. Next week I'll highlight the blazer must have for fall!

   Hi there!

The weather in New York has been getting a little bit colder slowly, and this breezy look is perfect! The off the shoulder top is a floral boho number called the Sayulita Top from Spell & The Gypsy Collective (Spell Byronbay), and the high-waisted bell bottom jeans are a recent Old Navy clearance steal for $14! The 70s retro look is back in style and with my love of bohemian style, classic rock, and gypsy wandering it couldn't be more up my alley. I am also wearing my amethyst necklace I got at Sugar Momos in Big Island, Hawaii that I blogged about in the spring. I finished off the look with my favorite oldie but goodie platforms and Kate Spade Gold Coast shimmer purse.

My hair was recently done in a balayage and we styled it wavy, which really works with the look as well. More in my Instagram @carolinasantosread to find out hair stylist details from my hair modeling shoot.

Hi there!

I was able to recently have an end of summer beach day on Coney Island in Brooklyn, and this beautiful hoodie by Ocean Drive, a subsidiary company of Vintage Havana. I started working with this brand after discovering them at Christina's beachy store in Watch Hill, RI while on a beach day there. Christina's has the cutest fashion ever and it's always been a favorite of mine in Watch Hill. Be sure to check them out if you're ever in that area (and Taylor Swift's house lol).

I love how this sweater is comfortable and cozy while still being fashion forward with the striped neon pink and cream, beachy by design, and perfect for a windy day at the beach! I paired it with an oldie but goodie pair of H&M lace shorts and my Aldo gold berkenstock-style espadrilles sandals.

Happy Indian Summer like we are currently having in New York! I'm loving it!

Hi there!

On Labor Day weekend I escaped to the CT shoreline (post Yankees vs Red Sox game where the Yanks killed! :) for a last summer beach day and it was the perfect occasion for this look. The Reformation dress I'm wearing is currently on sale and is called the "playa dress" so naturally I wore it to the beach! I finished the look with my Mallorcan sandals which I've been seeing everywhere in the US now.

I've blogged about Ref before because I love how sustainable and eco friendly the company is, and their looks are just stunning!  I especially love the cutout and wrap detail of this dress.

Enjoy our last days of Summer, though I know in excited for Fall too!

Hi there!

Last weekend I went to the kickoff Polo match at the Greenwich, CT Polo club and got to hang out in the Audi VIP lounge which was really fun! I'll be there again this weekend with my boyfriend and family in case anyone wants to go! This Reformation look was my closing weekend of West Side Story dress and I'm completely obsessed with it. I love the peekaboo detail and stripes, which is right on trend! Also these nude wedges from Arezzo I got a while back in Brazil complete the look and elongate the line without being uncomfortable to wear in the grass. Nude wedges are a staple for summer and can be found at any shoe store!

This dress can also transition into fall nicely with a moto jacket or a cardigan and scarf! I will swap out the wedge for an ankle bootie then too:)

Hope you are all enjoying your end of Summer! I know I don't want it to be over so next week I'll be featuring a new company I started to work with and a fall yet still end of summer beachy causal look.

Hi there!

I was recently in London, and thought I would call this post the London Look because in London you always have to be prepared for any weather to hit. It was mostly warm but got chilly, so my Ted Baker dress with Aldo loafer mule flats transitioned from a comfortable daytime look to a night look with a little lipstick plus adding a moto jacket like my lavender one by Blank NYC for Nordstrom for the chilly moments and evenings, or a little drizzle. I finished the look with sunnies and my Celine Nano Luggage Tote bag, a favorite.

As it has started to cool ever so slightly in New York, I thought this was the perfect post as we go from Summer into Fall soon. Don't worry there's plenty more summer beach days ahead, but this look is perfect for when the evenings start to cool off!

Ted Baker and Nordstrom always have the best options for all seasons too!
